National Geographic Magazine

Currently, I’m a designer for National Geographic Magazine. I assist the layout and graphics editors to create the editorial feature pages you see each month on newsstands worldwide. I usually work on 2 to 3 stories a month, plus special issues, supplements, in-house ads and even sometimes maps and info graphics. It’s a major publication and each story is a major group effort, but I do have a hand many pages of the magazine– especially the fine-tuning of the typography and layout.

National Parks Second Century Commission report

This 48 page + cover book was produced to communicate policy, philosophy, and recommendations to federal lawmakers on behalf of the National Parks. While the feel of the project gives a nod to looking ahead at the upcoming “second century” for the Parks, it must still appeal—and get through to—busy, type-a representatives, congress men and women, and possibly even President Obama. The report was published in September 2009 and will hopefully influence lawmakers to change the way we utilize or nation’s best asset: the National Parks.

Washington Harbour restaurants

While I was going to the Corcoran for my post-grad art school experience, I also worked at Tony & Joesin Georgetown’s Washington Harbour. While waiting tables and day-bartending, I also did lots of freelance design work for them. Newspaper and magazine ads, event tickets, postcards, rackcards, menus, signage, web ads, it really added up.

school projects: Corcoran College of Art + Design

I attended the Corcoran in DC from 2005 to 2007. I had already graduated from Boston University in 2003, but I really really wanted to go to art school. And I did. And I loved every single class. Here are a few projects.
